UW iSchool seeks Research Project Manager to support work at the Center for an Informed Public

Sep 8, 2021

The University of Washington’s Information School is seeking a Research Project Manager to provide research project administration and management support, team oversight, human subjects research coordination and oversight, and communication support.

The NSF Co-designing for Trust project is a year-long project housed in the UW Information School’s Center for an Informed Public (CIP). The CIP’s mission is to resist strategic misinformation, promote an informed society, and strengthen democratic discourse. This project will develop educational tools that address the issue of problematic information through a participatory design process amongst a broad range of stakeholders. In doing so, it will establish deep and convergent partnerships between academic institutions, community organizations, news and fact checking networks, industry, public libraries and museums, K12 schools, and national interest groups to co-create new educational resources that address problematic information as a critical threat to communication systems.

The Research Project Manager position contributes directly to the CIP’s mission by translating scientific objectives into project operations, driving the project forward, and facilitating the timely completion of key milestones. This is a one-year term position with the possibility of a two-year extension (for a total of three years) if additional funding is secured.

In the iSchool there is an expectation that all faculty and staff will step up where they see an opportunity to apply their special expertise or talents, speak up when they identify opportunities or concerns, and lead by taking actions that exemplify the iSchool’s core values. Leadership within the iSchool is expressed in diverse ways reflecting the variety of styles and cultures that are represented by our faculty and staff.
