  • Houston Chronicle (February 16): “Groups spread misinformation about Lakewood shooting suspect, despite flimsy foundation
    CIP director and co-founder Kate Starbird, a UW Human Centered Design & Engineering associate professor, was interviewed for a Houston Chronicle article examining misinformation that emerged about the suspect of a Feb. 11 shooting at a Lakewood, Texas church. “A lot of people spreading those things, they don’t care whether or not that’s true, because it fits their political goal,” Starbird said. “The veracity isn’t as important to them as the political valence.”
