In today’s climate of deep political polarization, it can be difficult to understand the perspectives of those on the other side of the political spectrum and work together for the common good. With the holiday season approaching, many will encounter challenging conversations with friends or family who hold different views at their annual gatherings.
The University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public and the UW Alumni Association’s UW Impact program are partnering to co-present an educational webinar, “Understanding and navigating political divides,” on November 5, 5-6 p.m. (Pacific).
Learn more about the roots of this polarization — and how to navigate these tough conversations — from CIP postdoctoral scholar Alexandros Efstratiou and CIP research scientist Madeline Jalbert.
- Efstratiou is a computational social scientist at the UW Information School who studies outgroup misperceptions, cultural polarization and the meta-science of the study of misinformation.
- Jalbert is a social and cognitive psychologist at the UW Information School who studies how context and subjective experiences influence memory, judgment and decision-making.
RSVP: To attend this free webinar on November 5, please register.
