Join us on March 15 for MisinfoDay 2022

Jan 11, 2022

Attention high school and middle school teachers, librarians, and other educators: You’re invited to MisinfoDay 2022!

Join us virtually on March 15 as we learn how to build healthy information environments and make informed decisions about what to believe online.

The University of Washington Center for an Informed Public, in partnership with the Washington State University Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, is presenting MisinfoDay virtually again this year. Instead of live streaming sessions, we will provide educators with pre-recorded content and activities they can use in their classrooms during and after March 15. We’re excited to be working with additional local partners, including librarians and instructors at UW Bothell, to help make this year’s program better than ever.

In early February, we’ll share additional details about this year’s MisinfoDay programming as speakers, instructors, and sessions are finalized, but we’re thrilled to announce three opportunities now:

  • Run a Misinformation Escape Room with your high schoolers with Loki’s Loop Escape Room! We’ll send you the physical or digital materials you need to run the escape room in your class. Students solve misinformation-related puzzles and advance through three stages to “escape” the room. See the registration form below for more details. We’ll provide free escape room kits to the first 50 Washington high school educators to register for one, so make sure to sign up soon!  (UPDATE: Due to major interest in the Misinformation Escape Room kits, there are no more free kits currently available. See the registration form below to learn how to purchase a kit or receive a free digital version.)
  • Host a virtual visitor to dive deeper into pre-recorded content. While all planned sessions will be pre-recorded, there will be a limited number of speakers available to visit classrooms virtually on March 15 to take questions and discuss the content from the pre-recorded sessions. Let us know about your interest in this opportunity when you sign up below.
  • Sport some MisinfoDay swag! The first 100 Washington educators to register will receive a MisinfoDay educator T-shirt and 30 MisinfoDay, CIP, and Murrow stickers and pins to share with students.

Register for MisinfoDay and sign up for escape room materials here

  • Register by February 7 if you would like to receive a physical escape room kit.
  • Register by March 4 to receive all other digital content.

Registering now ensures that you will hear about new sessions as soon as they’re announced and have access to all MisinfoDay materials the week before March 15.
